Eligibility to Show
Any entrants within Victoria are eligible to show. Fish are eligible to be shown if self bred or if purchased/obtained they have been in your care for one month prior to the show.
Interstate entries are by allocation only, opening on the 29th of Febuary allocations are dependent on how many local entry spaces have been taken. We are allowing for 100 fish entered if local entries fill this interstate entries may not open.
Membership to the International Betta Congress and the Aquarium society of Victoria/Victoria Betta is advisable.
Only members will be eligible for end of year points, lower entry fees and a higher limit on entries in the show.
Show Points Structure
IBC members will accumulate points as outlined in the IBC handbook.
ASoV members will accumulate points towards ASoV end of year awards.
Deadline for Entries 6th of March 2016
We ask all Local entries have their entry forms in by 29th of February, however local entries will remain open until 6th of March. On the 29th of March if there have been less than 100 fish entered the show chairs will allocate remaining places to interstate entrants that have expressed interest. Local entrants may continue to enter past 100 places if demand is high enough.
All entry forms must be submitted and all entry fees paid no later than 6th of March 2016.
Payment by PayPal is preferred. Please send PayPal payments as a gift (that is, entrant must pay the PayPal fees).

Self-Bred vs Purchased Entries
Please label all self breed and purchase fish entries correctly to ensure self-bred fish will be correctly awarded IBC points, whereas purchased entries do not receive these points.
For purchased entries, Write “Purchased/Breeder “and provide the name of the breeder if known in the comments section for each fish.
Mailed-In Entries
Entrants who are unable to attend may send their show fish by mail or courier. Fish must arrive between Tuesday the 8th of March and Thursday the 10th of March. It is important before you send your fish that you contact us to discuss the details, as there are additional considerations such as returning them post show. We will provide the mail-in address at that time. Please email [email protected]
Walk-In Entries
For local entrants we encourage you to bring your own entries and bench in on Friday 11th March from 3pm-8pm.
This is the only time available for bringing your own show entries. Late entries will not be accepted. Please email us if you will have difficulties making this time. [email protected]
Auction and the Sale of Entrants Fish
You may choose to auction your fish at the end of the show.
This is an optional part of participating in the show, please read the following:
Only fish which have been entered in the show may be included in the auction.
It is highly recommended that you provide a good photograph of the exact fish before hand if possible.
Please send these along with your Show Entry Form to [email protected].
20% commission is taken on all auction fish sold. Auction proceeds will be returned via PayPal if you have mailed-in your entries, or can be collected on the day if you are present.
Should you wish to participate in auction, we request that you indicate a reserve price/ minimum bid (otherwise we will get the best price for you).
If a fish doesn’t meet the reserve it will be passed-in and the fish returned to you. Please specify if you do not want fish to be returned, any unsold fish that the owner does not want returned become a donation to the club.
Please know which fish you will and will not be auctioning when you submit your entry forms, changes are incredibly difficult for us to do at the show.
Maintenance Award Program (MAP) Wild Betta species.
IBC members may participate in MAP for this show.
Please consult MAP documentation for further information.
Please clearly mark all MAP entrants on your entry form.
All MAP fish will be entered in the show and on display.
For MAP fish the entrance fee is waived.
MAP fish must be self bred. You cannot enter team entries into the MAP.
All MAP fish will all be auctioned with 20% going to the club and 80% going to the breeder.
New Breeders
The New Breeders division is intended for the beginning breeder / hobbyist new to showing Bettas.
Entrants who have shown in Group A Regular classes, with self bred fish are ineligible to show in this division.
Entrants may not show in Group A Regular classes and New Breeders division at the same show.
Entrants may only continue to show in New Breeders division for a maximum of 2 years.
New Breeders division Champions must show in Group A in the next show year.
If you are not a member of the IBC you are required to join the AsofV to enter in New Breeder classes.
Purchased Fish
Purchased fish will now be shown in their own group (Group C), not to be mixed with breeders' fish.
This includes any fish that an entrant did not breed themselves, whether literally bought from a store or aquabid or another breeder, or a gift fish that somebody gave to them.
Purchased fish must have been in the owners' possession for at least one month before the show.
Trading Table
A Trading Table will be run during the event.
You must be physically in attendance in order to participate in the Trading Table. Mailed-in items will not be accepted.
Only IBC, ASV or EDAS members may participate in the Trading Table.
10% commission is taken on all sales.
Commission fees will go to The Host club.
On arrival, please complete or hand in a pre-filled Trading Table form and hand this to the Trading Table Steward with your items.
All items should be clearly marked with the price and a description of the item.
All items must be related to the aquarium hobby.
Dry goods, equipment, fish food and plants are all acceptable.
